Between The Weeds has set up a new place to call home. I have been an unhappy with what I was seeing with my weebly website. I was using Weebly and Ets, so after much investigating I made the plunge and started a website hosted with bluehost.com with wordpress and woocommerce plugins. Let me be direct if you can use a wordpress site you can manage exactly what I did.
I am still adding product and articles to my site betweentheweeds.com. Amazingly, I have seen an uptick with site visitors, so I know something is working. My weebly site didn’t see this amount of activity and never had this broad control over my product and shipping. On the new site you use plugins and until I know this is a good fit I am working with free plugin options. So far I have only paid for my hosting 3 yr charge of $99 + $14 for domain. Domain special for the first year is free, a special I found for bluehost.com. I will be adding information for what I have found over at Between The Weeds. Please go over to my site for more info as I figure out things and sign up.
Working with products is time consuming, hey I get it. Because I am adding more information to the products I found transferring products was not going to work. I still had to go in and tweek the listing. You have so much diversity in listing products from selling in person to online to adding digital downloads and adding subscriptions where you can get paid. I know whew that is exhausting. I think if you start with you basic product selling online you can build out from there. Don’t worry you can do it – I am.
Now for my Etsy shop I am not sure what I will end up doing with the shop but will keep things switched up for the time being. Etsy has its purpose, not sure how etsy is going to fit. One thing I have done is my pricing in the Etsy shop is higher than on my site due to Etsy’s excessive charges. By doing my own woocommerce store I am charged 2.75% for any sales, usual credit company charge between 2.75% – 2.95%. I like Stripe, that is the only charge your listing receives. Compared to etsy, add up all the .20 cent charges, combine the charges on transaction, listing, and shipping which comes to additional 9 – 10% additional charges. How can you run a sale or offer money back if you place an order and still make any money? Well you can’t. Again head over to Between The Weeds for more info and if you place an order for $60 or more you get $10 off.
I want you to do better and make money doing it. I know you do. I think we can all benefit, so stay tuned for more…
